Snow must have made it impossible to recover small personal items scattered about the airplane accident scene where Buddy Holly, Jiles P. Richardson (Big Bopper), Ritchie Valenz and pilot Roger Peterson died amid a ball of wreckage. Their chartered light plane skidded or rolled 570 feet from point of impact at 1:03 a.m. following the young musicians' final gig at the Surf Ballroom.

Rockport-Fulton, Texas - Rockport and Fulton, side-by-side fishing villages on the Texas Gulf Coast, were — oddly — once the beef-shipping capital of the U.S. After the Civil War, huge herds of range cattle were corralled, butchered and shipped from piers that stretched far out into sheltered Aransas Bay. Now, shrimp and oysters are the main draw for area restaurants and the piers hold vacationing anglers hooking plentiful fish varieties, from flounder to redfish to trout.
